The dataset presents information about the diversity of Valvifera isopods (Crustacea: Peracarida) from the Mar del Plata submarine canyon and adjacent area, Soutwest Atlantic Ocean. The specimens were collected during the "Talud Continental I-III" expeditions on board of the RV "Puerto Deseado", in 2012 and 2013.

Dataset containing 247 records of occurrence of 26 species of decapod crustaceans distributed on the Southern Atlantic Patagonian continental shelf and slope, and on the Burdwood Bank. This dataset lists the specimens captured in different scientific cruises done between 2009 and 2017. Sampling were done with trawling benthic nets: 11 tows in 2009 (December); 17 in 2012 (April); 2 in 2013 (March); 20 in 2016 (26March-25April) and 25 in 2017 (22April-12May) . All samplings were done with the RV Puerto Deseado. Depth range of samples is 27-785 m.

Light and temperature records of the seawater associated to southern elephant seal dives during foraging trips in South Atlantic and Pacific Oceans - Version 1.11

The dataset contains records of locations of 13 immature southern elephant seals, Mirounga leonina, during their postresting and postmolting feeding trips at sea, with observations of dive and surface interval durations, light level and temperature of the water column during dives. Seals were simultaneously equipped with affordable light–temperature loggers (LTLs) and satellite devices. This dataset describes an unpublished open access version of the original data with records of light level and temperature of the water column using the Darwin Core standard (DwC) through ArOBIS guaranteeing compliance with the FAIR principles. The LTLs recorded light level and temperature of the water column at 30-s intervals during dives, and light–time records were applied to estimate dive parameters of diurnal records from 06:00 am to 05:00 pm, since movements up and down the water column are reflected by changes in light level. For that, the minimum light level reached at the surface of a dive was determined experimentally with diurnal dive simulations at sea using the LTLs devices before deployment. As variation of temperature in the water column can be associated with the local distribution of other taxa of interest and variation of light level in the water column (light attenuation) could be linked to concentrations of phytoplankton assemblages as an index of primary productivity, the dataset can be of useful interest. This dataset also includes variation of light and temperature of records between 17 pm to 06:00 am. The dataset encompasses a wide time scale (2005, 2006 and 2007) and covers a wide geographic range in the South Atlantic and Pacific Oceans (South West [-58.75, -81.29], North East [-37.60, -28.65]).

Survey of volutid snails (4 species) and infaunal and epibenthic bivalves (9 species) of interest for the artisanal fisheries at the southwest region of the San Matias Gulf, Patagonia. Data were collected in 1998-1999 by expert researchers of Research Council of Argentina, commissioned by the provincial administration to estimate biomass of species susceptible to commercial capture. The data were stored in digital support by the Fishing Agency of Chubut Province, Argentina.

The resource contains 3181 data derived from sensors (Time Depth Recorder) placed on southern elephant seals. Sea temperature, depth and diving location were stored in eMof format as mean, minimum and maximum values. Data were obtained during the marine-pelagic phase of 9 seals tracked between 1995 to 2008, along the SW Atlantic Ocean, covered all seasons. The novelty of this dataset is that being also available as Linked Open Data (LOD) through the SPARQL endpoint http://linkeddata.cenpat-conicet.gob.ar/snorql/. Dataset containing 2007 records of occurrence of 39 species of fish and 2 species of squid distributed on the Patagonian continental shelf and slope. This dataset describes a new and revised version of the original data published through OBIS and contains individual morphometrics. Specimens are representative of pelagic, demersal, demersal-pelagic, demersal-benthic and benthic habits and they were collected by commercial fishing vessels in autumn (May-June, 2001, 51 catches), winter (July-August, 2001, 38 catches) and summer (January-February, 2002, 112 catches). The sampling was carried out with bottom trawls at a depth range of 73-370 m. The survey was located between 39° - 52° S and 55° - 65° W. / Conjunto de datos con 2007 registros morfometricos de 39 especies de peces y 2 especies de calamares de la plataforma y talud continental patagónicos. Este conjunto de datos describe una nueva versión de los datos originales publicados a través de OBIS y contiene datos de morfometría individual.Los especimenes representan organismos de hábitos pelágico, demersal, demersal-pelágico, demersal-bentónico y bentónico y fueron recolectados por barcos comerciales en otoño (Mayo-Junio 2001, 51 lances de captura), invierno (Julio-Agosto 2001, 38 lances de captura) y en verano (enero-febrero 2002, 112 lances de captura). El muestreo fue llevado a cabo con redes de arrastre a un rango de profundidad de 73-370 m. El área relevada se localizó entre 39° - 52° S y los 55° - 65° O.

This resource contains satellite-tracked locations obtained through Argos system from juveniles of southern elephant seal of Península Valdés, Argentina, during the pelagic phase in the South Atlantic and South Pacific oceans. The dataset encompasses the satellite positions of tags deployed on 6 males and 7 females in 2004 and 2005 winter haul out (July-August), and 18 males and 7 females in 2003, 2005 to 2007 summer haul out (December-January). A filter was applied to delete unrealistic locations.
